The overall money supply, “M4”, narrowed by LBP 156.94 billion during the week of January 16, 2020 and by 5.11% on an annual basis to LBP 211,722 billion amid the LBP 128 billion increase in the non-banking sector’s Treasury bills portfolio.

 

On the other hand, Lebanese-Pound denominated deposits and currency in circulation, “M1”, soared by LBP 633.40 billion week-on-week to LBP 17,642 billion on the back of some LBP 444 billion expansion in demand deposits, coupled with the LBP 189 billion rise in money in circulation. Local currency term deposits, “M2”, plunged by LBP 212.59 billion on a weekly basis and by 17.99% year-on-year to settle at LBP 62,256 billion.

 

Consequently, private sector term and saving deposits denominated in LBP (“M2-M1”) sank by LBP 845.99 billion (1.86%) to LBP 44,614 billion during the week of January 16, with deposits denominated in foreign currencies (“M3-M2”) receding by LBP 72.23 billion (0.05%) to reach LBP 138,155 billion.

إنخفضت الكتلة النقديّة بمفهومها الواسع، "م4"، ب156.94 مليار ل.ل. خلال الأسبوع المنتهي في 16 كانون الثاني 2020 وبنسبة 5.11% على صعيدٍ سنويٍّ إلى 211،722 مليار ل.ل.،  في ظلّ إرتفاع محفظة سندات الخزينة المكتتَب بها من قِبَل القطاع غير المصرفي ب128 مليار ل.ل.

 

في المقابل، نمت الكتلة النقديّة "م1"، والتي تشمل السيولة الجاهزة بالليرة اللبنانيّة، ب633.40 مليار ل.ل. على أساسٍ أسبوعيٍّ إلى 17،642 مليار ل.ل.، وذلك بفعل تحسّن حجم الودائع تحت الطلب ب444 مليار ل.ل.، ترافقاً مع إرتفاع حجم النقد المتداوَل ب189 مليار ل.ل. وقد تقلّصت الكتلة النقديّة بالليرة اللبنانيّة، "م2"، ب212.59 مليار ل.ل. خلال الأسبوع المعني وبنسبة 17.99% سنويّاً لتصل إلى 62،256 مليار ل.ل.

 

في هذا الإطار، إنخفض حجم الإدّخار بالعملة الوطنيّة (م2-م1) ب845.99 مليار ل.ل. (1.86%) إلى 44،614 مليار ل.ل. في الأسبوع المنتهي في 16 كانون الثاني، كما وتقلّص رصيد الودائع المعنونة بالعملات الأجنبيّة (م3-م2) ب72.23 مليار ل.ل. (0.05%) إلى 138،155 مليار ل.ل.
