Lebanon’s gross public debt rose by $175.12 million during the third month of 2020 to $92.42 billion, up from $92.24 billion in February. On an annual basis, gross public debt widened by $6.19 billion when benchmarked to the $86.22 billion reading recorded in March 2019. The share of the Lebanese banking sector of gross public debt dropped to 27.18% in March 2020, down from 28.35% in February.
As far as debt in local currency is concerned, the latter increased by 0.27% month-on-month and by 11.22% year-on-year to $58.33 billion. In parallel, debt in foreign currency added 0.05% on a monthly basis, and 0.92% on a yearly basis to $34.08 billion. The share of debt in local currency widened to 63.12% of total debt in March 2020, up from 63.07% a month earlier while that in foreign currency contracted to 36.88% (down from 36.93% in February).
Net public debt, which factors out public sector deposits, came in 7.82% higher on a yearly basis at $83.21 billion in March 2020, noting that public sector deposits rose by 1.74% to $9.21 billion.

بحسب إحصاءات جمعيّة المصارف في لبنان، إرتفع الدين العامّ الإجمالي بحوالي 175.12 مليون د.أ. خلال الشهر الثالث من العام 2020 إلى 92.42 مليار د.أ.، من 92.24 مليار د.أ. في الشهر الذي سبقه. كذلك على صعيدٍ سنويٍّ، فقد زاد الدين العامّ الإجمالي بنحو 6.19 مليار د.أ. مقارنةً بالمستوى الذي كان عليه في شهر آذار 2019، والبالغ حينها 86.22 مليار د.أ. يجدر الذكر، في هذا السياق، أنّ حصّة القطاع المصرفي من الدين العامّ قد إنكمشت إلى 27.18% في آذار 2020، من 28.35% في شهر شباط.
في التفاصيل، إرتفع الدين بالليرة اللبنانيّة بنسبة 0.27% على أساسٍ شهريٍّ وبنسبة 11.22% على أساسٍ سنويٍّ إلى 58.33 مليار د.أ. في المقلب الآخر، زاد الدين بالعملة الأجنبيّة بنسبة 0.05% على صعيدٍ شهريّ، وبنسبة 0.92% على صعيدٍ سنويٍّ ليصل إلى 34.08 مليار د.أ. وقد زادت حصّة الدين بالليرة اللبنانيّة من 63.07% من الدين العام الإجمالي في شهر شباط 2020 إلى 63.12% في شهر آذار 2020 في حين تراجعت حصّة الدين بالعملة الأجنبيّة من 36.93% إلى 36.88%.
في هذا السياق، إرتفع صافي الدين العامّ، والذي يقتطع ودائع القطاع العامّ، بنسبة 7.82% على أساسٍ سنويٍّ إلى 83.21 مليار د.أ.، من 77.17 مليار د.أ. في شهر آذار 2019.
يظهر البيان التالي تطوُّر صافي الدين العامّ خلال السنوات القليلة المنصرمة، مسجّلاً نموّاً سنويّاً مركّباً (Compounded Annual Growth) بلغت نسبته 7.52% خلال الفترة الممتدّة بين آذار 2013 وآذار 2020.
