The number of passengers travelling via the Beirut International Airport (BIA) widened by 76.40% y-o-y in the first month of 2022 to 363,886, up from 206,281 passengers in January 2021. This rebound in the number of passengers can be attributed to many factors, namely the reclassification of Lebanon as a green zone after it managed to considerably contain the COVID-19 pandemic and the historic depreciation of the Lebanese pound which makes it an attractive destination for tourists and for the Lebanese diaspora from a purchasing power perspective. More specifically, the number of arriving travelers rose by 128.44% y-o-y to 153,230 with the number of departing travelers also increasing by 54.23% to 208,594. On the other hand, the number of transit travelers fell by 47.92% to 2,062, with the number of flights settling 45.62% higher on a yearly basis at 3,671. It is worth highlighting in this context that the share of Middle East Airlines (MEA) of total flights rose from 37.52% in January 2021 to 39.85% in January 2022. زاد عدد المسافرين عبر مطار بيروت بنسبة 76.40% على صعيد سنوي خلال الشهر الأوّل من العام 2022 إلى 363،886 مسافر مقارنةً مع 206،281 مسافر خلال الشهر نفسه من العام 2021. يمكن تعليل هذا الإرتفاع بالزيادة في عدد الوافدين بالأخص في ظلّ إعادة تصنيف لبنان ضمن المناطق الآمنة لناحية التغلّب على تفشّي وباء الكورونا من جهة والتدهور الغير مسبوق في سعر صرف الليرة ما يزيد من القدرة الشرائيّة للوافدين من الخارج ويجعل موسم الإصطياف جذّاباً. في التفاصيل، إرتفع عدد الوافدين إلى لبنان بنسبة 128.44% على أساسٍ سنويٍّ إلى 153،230. مسافر، تزامناً مع زيادة عدد المغادرين بنسبة 54.23% إلى 208،594 مسافر. من ناحية أخرى، تراجع عدد العابرين (ترانزيت) عبر مطار بيروت الدولي بنسبة 47.92% على أساسٍ سنويّ إلى 2،062 مسافر خلال شهر كانون الثاني 2022، فيما زاد عدد الرحلات الجويّة بنسبة 45.62% إلى 3،671. وقد زادت حصّة طيران الشرق الأوسط من إجمالي الرحلات من 37.52% خلال شهر كانون الثاني 2021 إلى 39.85% خلال شهر كانون الثاني 2022، كما هو مبيّن أدناه:
