An International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation team began a two-week mission in Lebanon on March 30, 2022 aimed at securing progress towards funding Lebanon through a financing package. According to the Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Saadeh Al-Shami, a preliminary deal might be reached two weeks after the discussions. It is worth noting, however, that even if a deal is struck, the implementation process would be challenging since the Parliament needs to approve the aid program and the reforms need to be passed and executed prior to receiving the financing package from the IMF.
