All monetary aggregates ended the week of June 29, 2023 on a negative note. The overall money supply, “M4”, narrowed by LBP 2,873.27 billion on a weekly basis to LBP 1,221.79 trillion, notwithstanding the LBP 277 billion increase in the non-banking sector’s Treasury bills portfolio during the concerned week. It is worth noting that as of the beginning February 2023, the official exchange rate was adjusted to LBP 15,000 per US Dollar.
In parallel, Lebanese-Pound denominated deposits and currency in circulation, “M1”, fell by LBP 653.63 billion week-on-week to LBP 111,911 billion on the back of some LBP 4,120 billion decrease in demand deposits outweighing the LBP 3,466 billion rise in currency in circulation. Local currency term deposits, “M2”, also dropped by LBP 1,372.30 billion on a weekly basis to settle at LBP 128,090 billion.
Consequently, private sector term and saving deposits denominated in LBP (“M2-M1”) narrowed by LBP 718.67 billion (4.25%) to LBP 16,179 billion during the week of June 29, with deposits denominated in foreign currencies (“M3-M2”) sinking by LBP 1,778.25 billion (0.17%) to LBP 1,073.91 trillion.
أنهت كلّ المؤشّرات النقديّة أسبوعها المنتهي في 29 حزيران 2023 على وقعٍ سلبيٍّ. في التفاصيل، إنخفضت الكتلة النقديّة بمفهومها الواسع، "م4"، ب2،873.27 مليار ل.ل. على صعيدٍ أسبوعيّ إلى 1،221.79 تريليون ل.ل. بالرغم من أنّ محفظة سندات الخزينة المكتتَب بها من قِبَل القطاع غير المصرفي قد إرتفعت ب277 مليار ل.ل. في الأسبوع المذكور. ويجدر الذكر بأنّ مصرف لبنان قد رفع سعر الصرف الرسمي إلى 15،000 ل.ل. مقابل الدولار الأميركي بدءاً من شهر شباط 2023.
في المقابل، إنخفضت الكتلة النقديّة "م1"، والتي تشمل السيولة الجاهزة بالليرة اللبنانيّة، ب653.63 مليار ل.ل. على أساسٍ أسبوعيٍّ إلى 111،911 مليار ل.ل.، وذلك بفعل تراجع حجم الودائع تحت الطلب ب4،120 مليار ل.ل.، ما طغى على إرتفاع حجم النقد المتداول ب3،466 مليار ل.ل. وقد إنخفضت الكتلة النقديّة بالليرة اللبنانيّة، "م2"، ب1،372.30 مليار ل.ل. على أساسٍ أسبوعي إلى 128،090 مليار ل.ل.
في هذا الإطار، تدنّى حجم الإدّخار بالعملة الوطنيّة (م2-م1) ب718.67 مليار ل.ل. (4.25%) إلى 16،179 مليار ل.ل. في الأسبوع المنتهي في 29 حزيران، كما وإنكمش رصيد الودائع المعنونة بالعملات الأجنبيّة (م3-م2) ب1،778.25 تريليون ل.ل. (0.17%) إلى 1،073.91 ترليون ل.ل.
