According to Banque Du Liban statistics, opened letters of credit (L/Cs), a measurement tool for trade activity, increased by 46.34% during the month of August 2023 to reach LBP 324.00 billion, up from LBP 221.40 billion a month earlier. Similarly on an annual basis, the face value of opened L/Cs came in more than five times higher y-o-y at LBP 1,987.50 billion during the first eight months of 2023 owing to the change of the official exchange rate to LBP 15,000 per USD starting the month of February.
Documentary L/Cs opened to finance imports activities reached LBP 1,672.00 billion YTD August 2023, compared to LBP 287.60 billion during the same period in 2022 at a time when the exchange rate was LBP 1,507.5 per USD. Similarly, utilized credits for imports came in higher at LBP 1,647.00 billion while inward bills for collection, another documentary credit form of financing (backed by invoices), soared to LBP 1,802.20 billion YTD August, from LBP 200.40 billion a year before.
In a related note, documentary L/Cs opened to finance exports activities rose by 213.31% y-o-y to LBP 315.50 billion YTD August 2023, from LBP 100.70 billion in the equivalent period in 2022. Concurrently, utilized credits to finance exports soared by more than three times to LBP 292.30 billion (92.65% of opened L/Cs for exports). In the same vein, the value of outward bills rose by more than five folds annually to LBP 962.80 million YTD August 2023, with outstanding bills for collection increasing by more than eight times to LBP 2,012.50 billion.
إستناداً إلى إحصاءات مصرف لبنان، إرتفعت قيمة الإعتمادات المستنديّة المفتوحة، وهي مؤشِّر لقياس حركة التبادل التجاري في لبنان، بنسبة 46.34% خلال شهر آب 2023 لتبلغ 324.00 مليار ل.ل.، مقارنةً مع 221.40 مليار ل.ل. في الشهر الذي سبقه. كذلك على صعيدٍ تراكميٍّ، فقد زادت قيمة الإعتمادات المستنديّة المفتوحة بأكثر من الخمسة أضعاف سنويّاً إلى 1،987.50 مليار ل.ل. خلال الأشهر الثمانية الأولى من العام 2023 نتيجة إعتماد سعر الصرف الرسمي للدولار الأميركي مقابل الليرة اللبنانيّة عند 15،000 ل.ل. للدولار الواحد بدءاً من شهر شباط 2023.
على صعيد حركة الإستيراد إلى لبنان، بلغت قيمة الإعتمادات المستنديّة المفتوحة للإستيراد 1،672.00 مليار ل.ل. في الأشهر الثمانية الأولى من العام 2023، مقابِل 287.60 مليار ل.ل. في الفترة نفسها من العام 2022 عندما كان سعر الصرف الرسمي يبلغ 1،507.5 ليرة لبنانيّة للدولار الأميركي الواحد. في سياقٍ آخر، زادت قيمة الإعتمادات المستعمَلة للإستيراد إلى 1،647.00 مليار ل.ل.، كما ووصلت البوالص الواردة إلى 1،802.20 مليار ل.ل.، من 200.40 مليار ل.ل. في الأشهر الثمانية الأولى من العام 2022.
أمّا لجهة إعتمادات التصدير، فقد زادت قيمة الإعتمادات المفتوحة للتصدير بنسبة 213.31% على أساسٍ سنويٍّ إلى 315.50 مليار ل.ل. حتّى شهر آب 2023، مقابِل 100.70 مليار ل.ل. في الفترة نفسها من العام الماضي. في المقلب الآخر، فقد إرتفعت قيمة الإعتمادات المستعمَلة للتصدير بأكثر من الثلاثة أضعاف إلى 292.30 مليار ل.ل. (أي ما يشكّل نسبة 92.65% من قيمة الإعتمادات المستنديّة المفتوحة للتصدير). في السياقٍ نفسه، إرتفعت قيمة البوالص الخارجة بأكثر من الخمسة أضعاف على صعيدٍ سنويّ إلى 962.80 مليار ل.ل. حتّى شهر آب 2023، كما وزاد رصيد البوالص قيد التحصيل بحوالي الثمانية أضعاف إلى 2،012.50 مليار ل.ل.
