The Lebanese financial sector’s net foreign assets widened by $185.6 million in November 2023 in comparison with a contraction of $81.2 million in October, a rise of $470.2 million in September, an increase of $145.1 million in August and a decrease of $217.2 million in July, only to name a few. November’s figures can be attributed to some $132.1 million increase in the net foreign assets of the Central Bank coupled with a $53.5 million rise in the net foreign assets of banks & financial institutions. On a cumulative basis, the financial sector’s net foreign assets soared by $1,645.7 million during the first eleven months of 2023 in comparison with a drop of $3,214.3 million in the same period in 2022. The year to date increase in the financial sector’s net foreign assets owes to some $2,590.1 million expansion in the net foreign assets of banks & financial institutions which outweighed the $944.4 million drop in the net foreign assets of the Central Bank.
