According to Banque Du Liban statistics, opened letters of credit (L/Cs), a measurement tool for trade activity, fell by 64.94% during the month of November 2025 to reach LBP 583.60 billion, down from LBP 1,664.60 billion a month earlier. On an annual basis, however, the face value of opened L/Cs reached LBP 10,108.30 billion (around $112.94 million) during the first eleven months of 2025 compared to LBP 9,031.70 billion in the same period in 2024.

Documentary L/Cs opened to finance imports activities reached LBP 7,229.20 billion ($80.77 million) YTD November 2025, compared to LBP 7,415.40 billion in the equivalent period in 2024. Similarly, utilized credits for imports came in lower at LBP 4,953.20 billion ($55.34 million) while inward bills for collection, another documentary credit form of financing (backed by invoices), rose by 25.02% to LBP 22,412.40 billion ($250.42 million) YTD November 2025, from LBP 17,926.80 billion in the same period in 2024.

In a related note, documentary L/Cs opened to finance exports activities rose to LBP 2,879.10 billion ($32.17 million) YTD November 2025, up from LBP 1,616.30 billion in the same period in 2024. Concurrently, utilized credits to finance exports increased to LBP 4,148.10 billion ($46.35 million; 144.08% of opened L/Cs for exports). In parallel, the value of outward bills rose to LBP 11,483.40 billion ($128.31 million) YTD November 2025, while outstanding bills for collection sank to LBP 9,128.20 billion ($101.99 million), from LBP 10,746.10 billion in the first eleven months of 2024.
