Beirut Port freight activity improved during the month of April 2026 with the total weight of shipped goods rising to around 530.4 thousand tons compared to 519.8 thousand tons a month earlier (2.03% increase). On an annual basis, moreover, freight activity rose by 3.28% to 2,028 thousand tons during the first four months of the current year compared to 1,964 thousand tons in the equivalent period last year. The number of vessels, however, dropped by 11.40% y-o-y to 412 in comparison with 465 YTD April 2025, while the number of imported cars increased by 89.19% (12,187 cars) to 25,851 cars. In a related note, the Beirut port handled containers with a total cargo capacity of around 312.65 thousand TEUs (including transshipments) during the first four months of the year 2026 in comparison with a smaller cargo capacity of 251.44 thousand TEUs a year earlier.
