According to Banque Du Liban (BDL) statistics, the combined balance sheet of investment banks operating in Lebanon widened by 3.96% (LBP 3,650.43 billion) during the first seven months of 2026 to LBP 95,805 billion, up from LBP 92,155 billion at end of 2025. In details, claims on the private sector (comprising resident and non-resident customers) rose by 57.48% (LBP 8,900.42 billion) to LBP 24,385 billion, coupled with some 11.98% (LBP 1,679.27 billion) increase in the value of fixed assets to LBP 15,701 billion, and a 3.82% (LBP 315.31 billion) rise in claims on the non-resident financial sector to LBP 8,561 billion, which altogether outweighed the 76.38% (LBP 5,993.50 billion) drop in the value of other assets to LBP 1,853 billion, the 3.46% (LBP 1,245.38 billion) decrease in cash and deposits with Central Banks to LBP 34,792 billion, and the 0.07% (LBP 7.40 billion) drop in the value of the securities portfolio to LBP 10,508 billion. On the liabilities side, liabilities to the non-resident financial sector rose by 41.01% (LBP 4,206.74 billion) YTD July 2026 to LBP 14,464 billion, coupled with the 4.10% (LBP 1,030.90 billion) increase in investment banks’ capital accounts to LBP 26,174 billion, and the 1.35% (LBP 580.94 billion) rise in private sector deposits (resident and non-resident customers, in addition to the resident financial sector) to LBP 43,620 billion, have totally eroded the 14.68% (LBP 1,948.46 billion) drop in the value of other liabilities to LBP 11,321 billion and the 49.22% (LBP 219.69 billion) decrease in liabilities to the public sector to LBP 227 billion.

Abiding by legislative decree number 50 and subsequent BDL circulars, investment banks operating in Lebanon have managed over the last couple of years to increase their lending activity to the private sector while reducing their exposure to the public sector. As a result, the surplus, representing the difference between loans to the private sector and claims on the public sector, reached LBP 24,380 billion in July 2026 compared to LBP 15,481 billion in December 2025 and LBP 14,121 billion in July 2025.

تُظهِر إحصاءات مصرف لبنان ارتفاعاً بنسبة 3.96% (3،650.43 مليار ل.ل.) في الموجودات المجمَّعة لمصارف الاستثمار العاملة في لبنان خلال الأشهر السبعة الأولى من العام 2026 إلى 95،805 مليار ل.ل.، مقابِل 92،155 مليار ل.ل. في نهاية العام 2025. في التفاصيل، زادت التسليفات إلى القطاع الخاصّ (العملاء المقيمين وغير المقيمين والقطاع المالي المقيم) بنسبة 57.48% (8،900.42 مليار ل.ل.) إلى 24،385 مليار ل.ل. رافقها ارتفاع في الموجودات الثابتة بنسبة 11.98% (1،679.27 مليار ل.ل.) إلى حوالي 15،701 مليار ل.ل. وزيادة التسليفات إلى القطاع المالي غير المقيم بنسبة 3.82% (315.31 مليار ل.ل.) إلى 8،561 مليار ل.ل.، ما طغى على تراجع قيمة الموجودات الأخرى بنسبة 76.38% (5،993.50 مليار ل.ل.) إلى حوالي 1،853 مليار ل.ل. وتدنّي رصيد النقد والتوظيفات مع المصارف المركزيّة بنسبة 3.46% (1،245.38 مليار ل.ل.) إلى 34،792 مليار ل.ل. وانخفاض محفظة الأدوات الماليّة بنسبة 0.07% (7.40 مليار ل.ل.) إلى 10،508 مليار ل.ل. أمّا لجهة المطلوبات، فقد ارتفعت مطلوبات القطاع المالي غير المقيم بنسبة 41.01% (4،206.74 مليار ل.ل.) حتّى شهر تمّوز 2026 إلى 14،464 مليار ل.ل.، رافقها زيادة بنسبة 4.10% (1،030.90 مليار ل.ل.) في حساب الرساميل لدى مصارف الاستثمار إلى 26،174 مليار ل.ل. وارتفاع ودائع القطاع الخاصّ (المودعين المقيمين وغير المقيمين والقطاع المالي المقيم) بنسبة 1.35% (580.94 مليار ل.ل.) إلى 43،620 مليار ل.ل.، قد طغوا على الانخفاض بنسبة 14.68% (1،948.46 مليار ل.ل.) في المطلوبات الأخرى إلى 11،321 مليار ل.ل. وتراجع مطلوبات القطاع العامّ بنسبة 49.22% (219.69 مليار ل.ل.) إلى 227 مليار ل.ل.

مراعاةً لتوصيات المصرف المركزي، نجحت مصارف الأعمال خلال السنوات القليلة المنصرمة بتعزيز محفظة تسليفاتها إلى القطاع الخاصّ مقابل توظيفاتها مع القطاع العامّ، مسجِّلةً فائضاً بقيمة 24،380 مليار ل.ل. مع نهاية شهر تمّوز 2026 مقارنةً ب15،481 مليار ل.ل. في نهاية العام 2025 و14،121 مليار ل.ل. في نهاية شهر تمّوز 2025.
