Ideally, a city should have a higher score in the Purchasing Power Index, Safety Index, Healthcare Index, and Climate Index, versus a lower score in each of the Pollution Index, House Price to Income Ratio, Cost of Living Index, and Traffic Commute Time Index to enjoy a better quality of life index score. According to Numbeo.com, Canberra, Australia appeared to offer its citizens the best quality of life in the world, registering a Quality of Life Index score of 224.30, followed by Eindhoven, Netherlands (216.39) and Raleigh, NC, United States (216.05), only to name a few.
Regionally, Dubai, United Arab Emirates enjoyed the highest quality of life across the Arab World with an index score of 174.04 (global rank: 62), trailed very closely by Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (index score: 172.29; global rank: 67), Muscat, Oman (index score: 168.09; global rank: 78), and Doha, Qatar (index score: 167.25; global rank: 82), among others.
On the local front, Beirut ranked 189th in the world in Numbeo’s 2019 Quality of Life Index with a score of 105.60, outperforming only Cairo, Egypt (index score: 76.45; global rank: 214). It appears that Lebanon’s performance has improved when it comes to safety, cost of living, property affordability, and climate.
