Lebanon’s gross public debt rose by $416.58 million during the third month of 2021 to $97.26 billion, up from $96.85 billion in February. On an annual basis, gross public debt came in $4.69 billion higher when benchmarked to the $92.58 billion reading recorded in March 2020. The share of the Lebanese banking sector of gross public debt dropped to 20.84% in March 2021, down from 21.82% in February.
As far as debt in local currency is concerned, the latter rose by 0.34% month-on-month and by 3.86% year-on-year to $60.58 billion. In contrast, debt in foreign currency added 0.57% on a monthly basis and 7.12% on a yearly basis to $36.68 billion. The share of debt in local currency narrowed to 62.29% of total debt in March 2021, down from 62.35% a month earlier while that in foreign currency widened to 37.71% (up from 37.65% in February).
Net public debt, which factors out public sector deposits, came in 4.07% higher on a yearly basis at $86.76 billion, noting that public sector deposits widened by 14.07% y-o-y to $10.51 billion.

بحسب إحصاءات جمعيّة المصارف في لبنان، إرتفع الدين العامّ الإجمالي بحوالي 416.58 مليون د.أ. خلال الشهر الثالث من العام 2021 إلى 97.26 مليار د.أ.، من 96.85 مليار د.أ. في الشهر الذي سبقه. كذلك على صعيدٍ سنويٍّ، فقد زاد الدين العامّ الإجمالي بنحو 4.69 مليار د.أ. مقارنةً بالمستوى الذي كان عليه في شهر آذار 2020، والبالغ حينها 92.58 مليار د.أ. يجدر الذكر، في هذا السياق، أنّ حصّة القطاع المصرفي من الدين العامّ قد إنكمشت إلى 20.84% في آذار 2021، من 21.82% في شهر شباط.
في التفاصيل، إرتفع رصيد الدين بالليرة اللبنانيّة بنسبة 0.34% على أساسٍ شهريٍّ وبنسبة 3.86% على أساسٍ سنويٍّ إلى 60.58 مليار د.أ. في المقلب الآخر، زاد الدين بالعملة الأجنبيّة بنسبة 0.57% على صعيدٍ شهريّ وبنسبة 7.12% على صعيدٍ سنويٍّ ليصل إلى 36.68 مليار د.أ. وقد تراجعت حصّة الدين بالليرة اللبنانيّة من 62.35% من الدين العام الإجمالي في شهر شباط 2021 إلى 62.29% في شهر آذار في حين نمت حصّة الدين بالعملة الأجنبيّة من 37.65% إلى 37.71% خلال الفترة نفسها.
في هذا السياق، إرتفع صافي الدين العامّ، والذي يقتطع ودائع القطاع العامّ، بنسبة 4.07% على أساسٍ سنويٍّ إلى 86.76 مليار د.أ.، من 83.36 مليار د.أ. في شهر آذار 2020.
يظهر البيان التالي تطوُّر صافي الدين العامّ خلال السنوات القليلة المنصرمة، مسجّلاً نموّاً سنويّاً مركّباً (Compounded Annual Growth) بلغت نسبته 6.90% خلال الفترة الممتدّة بين آذار 2014 وآذار 2021.
