Lebanon has recently signed an agreement with Iraq to import 1 million tons of diesel fuel. In details, the purpose of the deal will be to supply fuel for Lebanon’s power plants. The Minister of Energy and Water at the caretaker government Mr. Raymond Ghajar expects the fuel to secure electricity production for the next four months. In a related context, Mr. Ghajar estimated the value of the deal at around $300-$400 million in exchange for medical and consultancy services to be provided by Lebanon. Experts believe that the first shipment will arrive to Lebanon in 10 days and that the deal will raise electricity output from the current 4 hours a day to around 10-12 hours a day.
وقّع لبنان مؤخّراً إتّفاقيّة لإستيراد مليون طن من الديزل الأويل من العراق بهدف تزويد معامل الكهرباء في لبنان بالوقود لإنتاج الطاقة. وكان وزير الطاقة والمياه في حكومة تصريف الأعمال السيّد ريموند غجر قد صرّح بأنّ الإتفاقيّة ستؤمّن كهرباء للبنان على فترة 4 أشهر بكلفة إجماليّة تقدّر بحوالي ال 300-400 مليون د.أ. لقاء خدمات طبيّة وإستشاريّة يقدّمها لبنان. ويعتقد الخبراء بأنّ أوّل شحنة ستصل إلى لبنان خلال 10 أيّام وبأنّ الإتّفاقيّة سترفع إنتاج الكهرباء من 4 ساعات يوميّاً إلى حوالي 10-12 ساعة يوميّاً.
