The Lebanese Ministry of Finance (MOF) published its monthly snapshot on government transfers to Electricité Du Liban (EDL), revealing an $84.25 million annual decrease in the amounts transferred to LBP 328 billion ($217.6 million) during the first quarter of 2021, down from LBP 455 billion ($301.8 million) over the same period in 2020. This owes particularly to the 27.6% yearly drop in the value of gas and fuel purchases from KPC and Sonatrach to LBP 328 billion ($217.6 million).
It is worth noting that the amounts transferred to EDL constituted 8.40% of the government’s total primary expenditures by March 2021, compared to 10.40% a year earlier.

(217.6 مليون د.أ.) مقارنةً ب455 مليار ل.ل. (301.8 مليون د.أ.) في الفترة نفسها من العام 2020. يُنسَب هذا التراجع بالأخصّ إلى إنخفاض فاتورة المدفوعات لقاء شراء الغاز والوقود من مؤسَّسة البترول الكويتيّة وشركة سوناطراك الجزائريّة بنسبة 27.6% إلى 328 مليار ل.ل. (217.6 مليون د.أ.).
يجدر الذكر أنّ حصّة التحويلات إلى شركة كهرباء لبنان قد تراجعت إلى 8.40% من إجمالي نفقات الحكومة الأوّليّة في الفصل الأوّل من العام 2021، مقابِل حصّة 10.40% في الفترة نفسها من العام السابق.
