According to a statement by BDL, a meeting was held recently between the Prime Minister Mr. Najib Mikati, the Minister of Finance Mr. Youssef Khalil and the Central Bank Governor Mr. Riad Salameh. Following the meeting, Mr. Salameh announced that in addition to the provisions of basic circular number 161 concerning exceptional measures related to cash withdrawals, banks will be allowed to purchase US Dollar banknotes from BDL in exchange for Lebanese Pounds that they hold at the exchange rate specified on the Sayrafa platform without any ceiling.
