The Lebanese Minister of Economy has recently revealed that the World Bank has approved a $150 million loan to assist Lebanon in preserving its food security. In details, the proceeds of the loan will be used to fund wheat imports, allowing as such Lebanon to stabilize bread prices over the next 9 months, bearing in mind that the price of wheat has skyrocketed as a result of the Russian war on Ukraine. The program, labeled as the Lebanon Wheat Supply Emergency Response Project, still requires approval from the government and the parliament.
كشف وزير الإقتصاد مؤخّراً بأنّ البنك الدولي قد وافق على قرض بقيمة 150 مليون د.أ. لمساعدة لبنان على تحصين أمنه الغذائي. بالتفاصيل، سيتم إستعمال القرض لتمويل إستيراد القمح وهو ما سيساعد على تثبيت أسعار الخبز على فترة 9 أشهر علماً بأنّ أسعار القمح قد شهدت إرتفاعاً كبيراً نتيجة الحرب الروسيّة على أوكرانيا. وسيحتاج البرنامج الذي سمي برنامج التزويد الطارئ للبنان بالقمح إلى موافقة الحكومة والبرلمان.
