The Lebanese Ministry of Finance (MOF) published its monthly snapshot on government transfers to Electricité Du Liban (EDL), revealing a $275.95 million annual decrease in the amounts transferred to LBP 698 billion ($463.0 million) during the first ten months of 2021, down from LBP 1,114 billion ($739.0 million) over the same period in 2020. This owes particularly to the 37.4% yearly drop in the value of gas and fuel purchases from KPC and Sonatrach to LBP 695 billion ($461.0 million), with debt service concurrently decreasing by 7.4% to LBP 2,500 million ($1.7 million).
It is worth noting that the amounts transferred to EDL constituted 5.63% of the government’s total primary expenditures by October 2021, compared to 8.10% a year earlier.

(463.0 مليون د.أ.) مقارنةً ب1،114 مليار ل.ل. (739.0 مليون د.أ.) في الفترة نفسها من العام 2020. يُنسَب هذا التراجع بالأخصّ إلى إنخفاض فاتورة المدفوعات لقاء شراء الغاز والوقود من مؤسَّسة البترول الكويتيّة وشركة سوناطراك الجزائريّة بنسبة 37.4% إلى 695 مليار ل.ل. (461.0 مليون د.أ.) كما وتراجع خدمة الدين بشكل طفيف (7.4%) إلى 2،500 مليون ل.ل. (1.7 مليون د.أ.).
يجدر الذكر أنّ حصّة التحويلات إلى شركة كهرباء لبنان قد تراجعت إلى 5.63% من إجمالي نفقات الحكومة الأوّليّة حتّى شهر تشرين الأوّل من العام 2021، مقابِل حصّة 8.10% في الفترة نفسها من العام 2020.
