Freight activity via the Port of Tripoli fell to circa 224 thousand tons in the month of April 2022, down from around 281 thousand tons a month earlier. Imported freight accounted for 50.58% of total freight (113.325 thousand tons), while export activity constituted 49.42% (110.732 thousand tons). On a cumulative basis, however, Tripoli Port freight activity widened by 7.76% y-o-y to 969 thousand tons in the first four months of 2022 compared to 899 thousand tons in the same period last year. In addition, the number of vessels increased by 25.31% y-o-y to 302 by April, with the number of imported cars rising by 51.02% to 1,551. In this context, port-related revenues (excluding VAT and customs) soared by nearly five-folds on an annual basis to about $68.89 million during the first four months of 2022, from $11.52 million YTD April 2021.
