The Association of Banks in Lebanon (ABL) recently issued a statement confirming its unity and continued presence with the objective of achieving its goals. The ABL’s Board of Directors (BOD) reiterated its previous stance, which calls for attaining an agreement with the IMF in order to revamp the economy and implement structural reforms. However, the BOD pointed out that the distribution of losses must be conducted in a fair manner that prioritizes the protection of all depositors, bearing in mind that the government, which ultimately spent all of the funds, has the sufficient assets and future resources which when managed efficiently can assist in covering the state’s responsibility for the losses.
