Lebanon’s gross public debt widened by $673.30 million during the third month of 2022 to $100.65 billion, up from $99.98 billion in February, noting it only increased by $272.64 million in the first quarter of the year on the back of the $1.10 billion contraction it registered during the month of January. On an annual basis, gross public debt came in $3.40 billion higher when benchmarked to the $97.25 billion reading recorded in March 2021. The share of the Lebanese banking sector of gross public debt dropped to 15.28% in March 2022, down from 15.30% in February.
As far as debt in local currency is concerned, the latter rose by 0.70% month-on-month and by 1.17% year-on-year to $61.29 billion. Similarly, debt in foreign currency added 0.63% on a monthly basis and 7.35% on a yearly basis to $39.36 billion. The share of debt in local currency expanded to 60.90% of total debt in March 2022, up from 60.88% a month earlier while that in foreign currency contracted to 39.10% (down from 39.12% in February).
Net public debt, which factors out public sector deposits, settled 0.22% higher on a yearly basis at $86.93 billion, noting that public sector deposits rose by 30.57% y-o-y to $13.72 billion.

بحسب إحصاءات جمعيّة المصارف في لبنان، إرتفع الدين العامّ الإجمالي بنحو 673.30 مليون د.أ. خلال الشهر الثالث من العام 2022 إلى 100.65 مليار د.أ.، من 99.98 مليار د.أ. في الشهر الذي سبقه، مع العلم أنّه قد سجّل زيادة قليلة بلغت قيمتها 272.64 مليون د.أ. خلال الفصل الأوّل من العام نتيجة التراجع الكبير في شهر كانون الثاني والبالغ 1.10 مليار د.أ. كذلك على صعيدٍ سنويٍّ، زاد الدين العامّ الإجمالي بنحو 3.40 مليار د.أ. مقارنةً بالمستوى الذي كان عليه في شهر آذار 2021، والبالغ حينها 97.25 مليار د.أ. يجدر الذكر، في هذا السياق، أنّ حصّة القطاع المصرفي من الدين العامّ قد إنكمشت إلى 15.28% في آذار 2022، من 15.30% في شهر شباط.
في التفاصيل، إرتفع رصيد الدين بالليرة اللبنانيّة بنسبة 0.70% على أساسٍ شهريٍّ وبنسبة 1.17% على أساسٍ سنويٍّ إلى 61.29 مليار د.أ. في المقلب الآخر، زاد الدين بالعملة الأجنبيّة بنسبة 0.63% على صعيدٍ شهريّ وبنسبة 7.35% على صعيدٍ سنويٍّ ليصل إلى 39.36 مليار د.أ. وقد إرتفعت حصّة الدين بالليرة اللبنانيّة من 60.88% من الدين العام الإجمالي في شهر شباط إلى 60.90% في شهر آذار 2022 في حين إنكمشت حصّة الدين بالعملة الأجنبيّة من 39.12% إلى 39.10% خلال الفترة نفسها.
في هذا السياق، إرتفع صافي الدين العامّ، والذي يقتطع ودائع القطاع العامّ، بنسبة 0.22% على أساسٍ سنويٍّ إلى 86.93 مليار د.أ.، من 86.74 مليار د.أ. في شهر آذار 2021.
يظهر البيان التالي تطوُّر صافي الدين العامّ خلال السنوات القليلة المنصرمة، مسجّلاً نموّاً سنويّاً مركّباً (Compounded Annual Growth) بلغت نسبته 5.82% خلال الفترة الممتدّة بين آذار 2015 وآذار 2022.
