The number of passengers travelling via the Beirut International Airport (BIA) rose by 34.74% y-o-y in the first month of 2023 to 490,296, up from 363,886 passengers in January 2022. This rebound in the number of passengers was in part assisted by the historic depreciation of the Lebanese pound against the Dollar which makes Lebanon an attractive destination for tourists and for the Lebanese diaspora. More specifically, the number of arriving travelers rose by 37.26% y-o-y to 210,318 and the number of departing travelers increased by 33.81% to 279,122 while the number of transit travelers fell by 58.49% to 856. The number of flights saw a sharp rebound (22.31% on a yearly basis) to 4,490. It is worth highlighting, in this context, that the share of Middle East Airlines (MEA) of total flights rose from 39.85% in January 2022 to 44.28% in January 2023. زاد عدد المسافرين عبر مطار بيروت بنسبة 34.74% على صعيدٍ سنويٍّ خلال الشهر الأوّل من العام 2023 إلى 490،296 مسافر مقارنةً مع 363،886 مسافر خلال الشهر نفسه من العام 2022. يمكن تعليل جزء من هذا الإرتفاع بالتدهور الغير مسبوق في سعر صرف الليرة ما يزيد من القدرة الشرائيّة للوافدين من الخارج. في التفاصيل، إرتفع عدد الوافدين إلى لبنان بنسبة 37.26% على أساسٍ سنويٍّ إلى 210،318 مسافر، تزامناً مع زيادة عدد المغادرين بنسبة 33.81% إلى 279،122 مسافر. من ناحية أخرى، تراجع عدد العابرين (ترانزيت) عبر مطار بيروت الدولي بنسبة 58.49% على أساس سنويّ إلى 856 مسافر خلال شهر كانون الثاني 2023، فيما زاد عدد الرحلات الجويّة بنسبة 22.31% إلى 4،490. وقد زادت حصّة طيران الشرق الأوسط من إجمالي عدد الرحلات من 39.85% خلال شهر كانون الثاني 2022 إلى 44.28% خلال شهر كانون الثاني 2023، كما هو مبيّن أدناه:
