According to Banque Du Liban statistics, opened letters of credit (L/Cs), a measurement tool for trade activity, fell by 23.22% during the month of March 2023 to reach LBP 241.70 billion, down from LBP 314.80 billion a month earlier. On an annual basis, however, the face value of opened L/Cs came in around four times higher y-o-y at LBP 590.00 billion during the first quarter of 2023 owing to the change of the official exchange rate to LBP 15,000 per USD starting the month of February.
Documentary L/Cs opened to finance imports activities reached LBP 529.20 billion YTD March 2023, compared to LBP 96.00 billion during the same period in 2022 at a time when the exchange rate was LBP 1,507.5 per USD. Similarly, utilized credits for imports came in higher at LBP 539.20 billion while inward bills for collection, another documentary credit form of financing (backed by invoices), soared to LBP 509.10 billion YTD March, from LBP 77.80 billion a year before.
In a related note, documentary L/Cs opened to finance exports activities rose by 42.39% y-o-y to LBP 60.80 billion YTD March 2023, from LBP 42.70 billion in the equivalent period in 2022. Concurrently, utilized credits to finance exports soared by nearly four times to LBP 157.30 billion (258.72% of opened L/Cs for exports). In the same vein, the value of outward bills rose by more than seven folds annually to LBP 586.00 million YTD March 2023, with outstanding bills for collection increasing by more than seven times to LBP 2,063.60 billion.
إستناداً إلى إحصاءات مصرف لبنان، إنخفضت قيمة الإعتمادات المستنديّة المفتوحة، وهي مؤشِّر لقياس حركة التبادل التجاري في لبنان، بنسبة 23.22% خلال شهر آذار 2023 لتبلغ 241.70 مليار ل.ل.، مقارنةً مع 314.80 مليار ل.ل. في الشهر الذي سبقه. أمّا على صعيدٍ تراكميٍّ، فقد زادت قيمة الإعتمادات المستنديّة المفتوحة بحوالي الأربعة أضعاف سنويّاً إلى 590.00 مليار ل.ل. خلال الفصل الأوّل من العام 2023، نتيجةإعتماد سعر الصرف الرسمي للدولار الأميركي مقابل الليرة اللبنانيّة عند 15،000 ل.ل. للدولار الواحد بدءاً من شهر شباط 2023.
على صعيد حركة الإستيراد إلى لبنان، بلغت قيمة الإعتمادات المستنديّة المفتوحة للإستيراد 529.20 مليار ل.ل. في الفصل الأوّل من العام 2023، مقابِل 96.00 مليار ل.ل. في الفترة نفسها من العام 2022 عندما كان سعر الصرف الرسمي يبلغ 1،507.5 ليرة لبنانيّة للدولار الأميركي الواحد. في سياقٍ آخر، زادت قيمة الإعتمادات المستعمَلة للإستيراد إلى 539.20 مليار ل.ل.، كما ووصلت البوالص الواردة إلى 509.10 مليار ل.ل.، من 77.80 مليار ل.ل. في الفصل الأوّل من العام 2022.
أمّا لجهة إعتمادات التصدير، فقد زادت قيمة الإعتمادات المفتوحة للتصدير بنسبة 42.39% على أساسٍ سنويٍّ إلى 60.80 مليار ل.ل. حتّى شهر آذار 2023، مقابِل 42.70 مليار ل.ل. في الفترة نفسها من العام الماضي. في المقلب الآخر، فقد إرتفعت قيمة الإعتمادات المستعمَلة للتصدير بحوالي الأربعة أضعاف إلى 157.30 مليار ل.ل. (أي ما يشكّل نسبة 258.72% من قيمة الإعتمادات المستنديّة المفتوحة للتصدير). في السياقٍ نفسه، إرتفعت قيمة البوالص الخارجة بأكثر من السبعة أضعاف على صعيدٍ سنويّ إلى 586.00 مليار ل.ل. حتّى شهر آذار 2023، كما وزاد رصيد البوالص قيد التحصيل بأكثر من السبعة أضعاف إلى 2،063.60 مليار ل.ل.
