All monetary aggregates ended the week of June 15, 2023 on a negative note. The overall money supply, “M4”, narrowed by LBP 6,534.39 billion on a weekly basis to LBP 1,225.17 trillion, noting that the non-banking sector’s Treasury bills portfolio decreased by LBP 302 billion during the concerned week. It is worth noting that as of the beginning February 2023, the official exchange rate was adjusted to LBP 15,000 per US Dollar.
In parallel, Lebanese-Pound denominated deposits and currency in circulation, “M1”, fell by LBP 4,689.93 billion week-on-week to LBP 113,676 billion on the back of some LBP 4,708 billion decrease in demand deposits which outweighed the LBP 18 billion rise in currency in circulation. Local currency term deposits, “M2”, also dropped by LBP 5,091.25 billion on a weekly basis to settle at LBP 130,229 billion.
Consequently, private sector term and saving deposits denominated in LBP (“M2-M1”) narrowed by LBP 401.32 billion (2.37%) to LBP 16,553 billion during the week of June 15, with deposits denominated in foreign currencies (“M3-M2”) sinking by LBP 1,141.10 billion (0.11%) to LBP 1,075.62 trillion.
أنهت كلّ المؤشّرات النقديّة أسبوعها المنتهي في 15 حزيران 2023 على وقعٍ سلبيٍّ. في التفاصيل، إنخفضت الكتلة النقديّة بمفهومها الواسع، "م4"، ب6،534.39 مليار ل.ل. على صعيدٍ أسبوعيّ إلى 1،225.17 تريليون ل.ل. مع العلم أنّ محفظة سندات الخزينة المكتتَب بها من قِبَل القطاع غير المصرفي قد تراجعت ب302 مليار ل.ل. في الأسبوع المذكور. ويجدر الذكر بأنّ مصرف لبنان قد رفع سعر الصرف الرسمي إلى 15،000 ل.ل. مقابل الدولار الأميركي بدءاً من شهر شباط 2023.
في المقابل، إنخفضت الكتلة النقديّة "م1"، والتي تشمل السيولة الجاهزة بالليرة اللبنانيّة، ب4،689.93 مليار ل.ل. على أساسٍ أسبوعيٍّ إلى 113،676 مليار ل.ل.، وذلك بفعل تراجع حجم الودائع تحت الطلب ب4،708 مليار ل.ل.، ما طغى على إرتفاع حجم النقد المتداول ب18 مليار ل.ل. وقد إنخفضت الكتلة النقديّة بالليرة اللبنانيّة، "م2"، ب5،091.25 مليار ل.ل. على أساسٍ أسبوعي إلى 130،229 مليار ل.ل.
في هذا الإطار، تدنّى حجم الإدّخار بالعملة الوطنيّة (م2-م1) ب401.32 مليار ل.ل. (2.37%) إلى 16،553 مليار ل.ل. في الأسبوع المنتهي في 15 حزيران، كما وإنكمش رصيد الودائع المعنونة بالعملات الأجنبيّة (م3-م2) ب1،141.10 تريليون ل.ل. (0.11%) إلى 1،075.62 ترليون ل.ل.
