The overall money supply, “M4”, narrowed by LBP 3,468.95 billion during the week of February 15, 2024 to LBP 6,337.13 trillion (based on the new official exchange rate of LBP 89,500 per USD starting February 8), noting that the non-banking sector’s Treasury bills portfolio decreased by LBP 31.63 billion during the concerned week.
In parallel, Lebanese-Pound denominated deposits and currency in circulation, “M1”, widened by LBP 667.27 billion week-on-week to LBP 79,971 billion on the back of the LBP 1,427.47 billion increase in demand deposits, which outweighed the LBP 760.20 billion decrease in currency in circulation. Local currency term deposits, “M2”, also rose by LBP 574.60 billion on a weekly basis to settle at LBP 96,037 billion.
Consequently, private sector term and saving deposits denominated in LBP (“M2-M1”) narrowed by LBP 92.67 billion (0.57%) to LBP 16,067 billion during the week of February 15, with deposits denominated in foreign currencies (“M3-M2”) sinking by LBP 4,011.92 billion (based on the new official exchange rate of LBP 89,500 per USD) to LBP 6,217.22 trillion.
إنخفضت الكتلة النقديّة بمفهومها الواسع، "م4"، ب3،468.95 مليار ل.ل. خلال الأسبوع المنتهي في 15 شباط 2024 إلى 6،337.13 ترليون ل.ل. (عند إعتماد سعر الصرف الرسمي الجديد والبالغ 89،500 ليرة لبنانيّة للدولار الأميركي الواحد إعتباراً من 8 شباط) مع العلم أنّ محفظة سندات الخزينة المكتتَب بها من قِبَل القطاع غير المصرفي قد تراجعت ب31.63 مليار ل.ل. في الأسبوع المذكور.
في المقابل، إرتفعت الكتلة النقديّة "م1"، والتي تشمل السيولة الجاهزة بالليرة اللبنانيّة، ب667.27 مليار ل.ل. على أساسٍ أسبوعيٍّ إلى 79،971 مليار ل.ل.، وذلك بفعل زيادة حجم الودائع تحت الطلب ب1،427.47 مليار ل.ل.، ما طغى على إنخفاض حجم النقد المتداول ب760.20 مليار ل.ل. وقد إرتفعت الكتلة النقديّة بالليرة اللبنانيّة، "م2"، ب574.60 مليار ل.ل. لتصل إلى 96،037 مليار ل.ل.
في هذا الإطار، إنكمش حجم الإدّخار بالعملة الوطنيّة (م2-م1) ب92.67 مليار ل.ل. (0.57%) إلى 16،067 مليار ل.ل. في الأسبوع المنتهي في 15 شباط، كما وتراجع رصيد الودائع المعنونة بالعملات الأجنبيّة (م3-م2) ب4،011.92 مليار ل.ل. (عند إعتماد سعر الصرف الرسمي الجديد والبالغ 89،500 ليرة لبنانيّة للدولار الأميركي الواحد) إلى 6،217.22 ترليون ل.ل.
