Total Energies has and in partnership with Qatar Energy recently submitted a letter to the caretaker Prime Minister Mr. Najib Mikati, signaling their intent to produce some 100 megawatts of solar power. In details, the aforementioned consortium will be negotiating with some 11 companies who had previously won the bids back in May 2022 to produce some 165 megawatts of power (equivalent to some 2 additional hours of electricity supply per day), but have so far refrained from launching their projects due to financing issues. In a similar note, it is worth pointing out that CMA CGM (one of the 11 companies that obtained the original license) had previously acquired another license, and should within the upcoming months finalize the procedures to start building two solar power plants with a combined capacity of 30 megawatts.
