The Lebanese Central Bank issued on September 12, 2024 an announcement in which it warned the public about dealing with individuals or companies that are unlicensed by BDL or by the Capital Markets Authority. In details, BDL stated that in light of the Central Bank’s mission to maintain economic stability, and given the rising number of cases in which different parties (individuals or companies) conduct fraudulent marketing campaigns on all social media platforms for services and financial investment products that encourage the public to purchase stocks, securities and other contracts by promising citizens a high rate of return. In addition, the announcement also noted that dealing with the parties in question could result in legal and financial implications especially considering the risks related to money laundering & terrorism financing.
