The World Bank recently issued a press release that highlighted its continuous support to Lebanon. In details, the World Bank announced that its Board of Executive Directors ratified a $250 million project that aims at bolstering the renewable energy field in Lebanon via the restoration of the electricity grid and the implementation of reforms. In parallel, the World Bank announced that in the light of the recent escalation of hostilities, it would be activating its emergency response plans to support displaced people. In a related context, the World Bank estimated that as of July 2024, Lebanon has suffered some $750 million in damages and losses to homes, businesses and infrastructure in areas affected by the hostilities noting that it is in the process of updating these figures to cover the recent developments.
