The Lebanese Central Bank issued on February 19, 2025 an announcement regarding basic circulars 158 and 166 in which it stated that the Central Council at the Central Bank decided to raise the monthly withdrawal ceilings to $500 (up from $400 and $300) for eligible depositors benefitting from the provisions of basic circular 158 and to $250 (up from $150) for eligible depositors benefitting from the provisions of basic circular 166. These changes will become effective starting the beginning of March 2025. In addition, the Central Bank reiterated the need to promulgate the laws that can guarantee the reimbursement of deposits, highlighting that BDL is continuously communication with the Lebanese Government and Parliament in that respect.
