Freight activity via the Port of Tripoli improved on a monthly basis in November 2024 to reach 219 thousand tons compared to 194 thousand tons in October of the same year yet came in lower than the 272 thousand tons registered in November 2023 (19.49% annual decrease). Imported freight accounted for 92.24% of total freight (202 thousand tons), while export activity constituted a meager 7.76% (17 thousand tons). On a cumulative basis, however, Tripoli Port freight activity narrowed by 13.82% y-o-y to 2,832 thousand tons in the first eleven months of 2024 compared to 3,286 thousand tons in the same period in 2023 due to the escalation of the war on Lebanon during the months of October and November before inking a ceasefire agreement in late November. Similarly, the number of vessels decreased by 1.04% on a yearly basis to 759, with the number of imported cars reaching 1,838 (21.12% annual decrease), compared to 2,330 a year earlier. On the other hand, port-related revenues (excluding VAT and customs) increased by 23.30% y-o-y to $27.63 million YTD November 2024, from $22.41 million YTD November 2023.
