Beirut Port freight activity accelerated to around 468.5 thousand tons during the month of January 2025, up from 444.7 thousand tons in the previous month, as activity continued to recuperate following the inking of a cease-fire agreement in late November. On an annual basis, freight activity increased by 23.29% from 380.0 thousand tons a year earlier. The number of vessels remained almost flat at 120, while the number of imported cars contracted by 31.76% to 2,202 cars. In a related context, the Beirut port handled containers with a total cargo capacity of around 64.633 thousand TEUs (including transshipments) during the month of January 2025 in comparison with a lower cargo capacity of some 59.764 thousand TEUs in January 2024.
