Beirut Port freight activity dipped to around 525.4 thousand tons during the month of April 2025, down from 558.0 thousand tons in the previous month. On a cumulative basis, however, freight activity rose by 18.21% y-o-y during the first four months of 2025 to 1,964 thousand tons up from 1,661 thousand tons a year earlier. The number of vessels, however, dropped by 9.71% year-on-year to 465 in comparison with 515 in the same period in 2024, while the number of imported cars increased by 14.92% to 13,664 cars. In a related context, the Beirut port handled containers with a total cargo capacity of around 251.44 thousand TEUs (including transshipments) up to April 2025 in comparison with a smaller cargo capacity of 225.66 thousand TEUs a year earlier.
