The Finance and Budget Parliamentary Commission approved in its latest meeting the opening of an additional line of credit of LBP 2,250 billion ($25 million) that will be geared towards extending pensioners of the public sector with a monthly increase of LBP 12 Million (~$134). The commission also amended some of the provisions of the law that was recently passed to allow the Central Bank to issue higher denomination banknotes (up to LBP 5 million) in such a way that addresses the President’s comments. It is worth noting that the Lebanese President has previously returned back the concerned law due to the existence of some contradictions between the justifying reasons and some of its articles.
