The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), announced in a press release on September 18, 2025 the launch of the “Green Industry Finance Forum” in Lebanon that took place on September 16 and 17 at the Mövenpick Hotel in Beirut. The launch was accomplished under the patronage and presence of H.E. Ministry of Industry Mr. Joe Issa-El-Khoury and with the financial support of the European Union (EU). According to the press release, the purpose of this forum is to highlight the opportunities integral to a green industrial economy by connecting sustainable projects with available financing from international institutions and the banking sector. The press release added that the launch event discussed success stories of pioneering circular economy and resource efficiency initiatives that demonstrated the direct economic viability of green investments through reducing costs and creating new revenue streams. In addition, the event allowed for dialogue among policymakers, the financial sector, and industry leaders to discuss the reforms required to speed up Lebanon’s transition to a sustainable industrial economy. The forum also included a panel discussion on “Financing the Green Transition” hosting speakers from the IMF, the EU, the EBRD, among others.
