The World Bank Group published its latest statistics on the cost of sending remittances from 48 source countries and in 105 receiving countries. The cost includes, among others, transaction fees, the applicable exchange rate, and the speed of the service. According to these statistics, the cost of sending $200 from the United States to Lebanon stood at $22.56 in the third quarter of 2025, representing 11.28% of the total amount transferred, qualifying the corridor to be the most expensive among all money corridors emanating from the United States. In a related note, the average cost of sending $500 from the United States to Lebanon levelled at $26.37 (5.28% of the transferred amount) during Q3-2025. Furthermore, the World Bank statistics revealed that the cost of sending $200 from Canada reached $18.86 (9.43% of the transferred amount) with that of sending $200 from Australia attaining $21.33 (10.67% of the transferred amount). Similarly, the cost of sending $500 from the aforementioned countries attained $30.76 (6.15% of the transferred amount) in the case of Canada and $30.40 (6.08%) in the case of Sweden. As far as European countries are concerned, the cost of sending $200 from Sweden to Lebanon stood at $10.62 (5.31% of the transferred amount), with that of sending $200 from France and the United Kingdom attaining $10.16 (5.08% of transferred amount) and $11.41 (5.70% of transferred amount) respectively. In addition, the cost of sending $500 from the aforementioned European countries attained $20.82 in the case of Sweden, $19.44 in the case of France and $20.38 for the UK. The cost of sending $200 and $500 from Germany to Lebanon reached $10.98 (5.49% of the transferred amount) and $22.15 (4.43% of the transferred amount) respectively in Q3-2025. It is worth noting that Lebanon emerged as the eighth most expensive destination for receiving $200 from Germany in Q3-2025. On a regional basis, the cost of sending $200 from Saudi Arabia to Lebanon attained $11.13 (5.57% of the transferred amount) in the third quarter of 2025, with that of sending $500 reaching at $19.34 (3.89%).
