Numbeo.com, a global statistics website, released its Quality of Life Index Mid-2026 in which it ranked 305 cities across the globe based on their respective index scores. The index is calculated using the values of eight other sub-indices which shape the quality of life in a city, namely the Purchasing Power Index, the Safety Index, the Healthcare Index, the Cost of Living Index, the Property Price to Income Ratio (which reflects the affordability of housing), the Traffic Commute Time Index, the Pollution Index, and the Climate Index. Ideally, a city should have a higher score in the Purchasing Power Index, Safety Index, Healthcare Index, and Climate Index, versus a lower score in each of the Pollution Index, House Price to Income Ratio, Cost of Living Index, and Traffic Commute Time Index to enjoy a better quality of life index score. According to Numbeo.com, Dutch cities occupied the top three positions in terms of quality of life, led by The Hague with a score 221.5, followed by Eindhoven (score of 210.7) and Rotterdam (score of 205.5).
Regionally, Muscat enjoyed the highest quality of life among its Arab peers with an index score of 180.3 (global rank: 75), followed by Doha (index score: 169.2; global rank: 127), and Abu Dhabi (index score: 169.0; global rank: 128) only to name a few.
On the local front, Beirut ranked 287th in the world among 305 cities and second to last among covered Arab cities in Numbeo’s Mid-2026 Quality of Life Index with a score of 88.5, compared to 90.4 a year earlier. على صعيدٍ إقليميٍّ، حصلت مدينة مسقط على أعلى نتيجةٍ بين نظرائها العرب في مؤشّر نوعيّة الحياة (النتيجة: 180.3 المركز العالمي: 75) عن منتصف العام 2026، تبعتها مدينة الدوحة (النتيجة: 169.2؛ المركز العالمي: 127)، وأبو ظبي (النتيجة: 169.0؛ المركز العالمي: 128)، للذكر لا للحصر.
محليّاً، أتت العاصمة بيروت في المرتبة 287 ضمن 305 مدينة في العالم وفي المركز الما قبل الأخير ضمن المدن العربيّة المشمولة في مؤشّر نوعيّة الحياة لمنتصف العام 2026 الصادر عن موقع نامبيو بنتيجة 88.5 مقارنةً مع نتيجة 90.4 قبل عام. يُظهِر الجدول التالي أداء مدينة بيروت في الركائز الثمانية لمؤشّر نوعيّة الحياة خلال الفترة الممتدّة بين منتصف العام 2023 ومنتصف العام 2026. وفيما سجّلت أغلب المؤشّرات تغيّرات سنويّة طفيفة (أكانت صعوداً أو نزولاً)، بقيت نتائج مؤشّرات الرعاية الصحيّة والمناخ وحركة المرور على حالها مقارنةً بأرقام منتصف العام 2025.
