Freight activity via the Port of Tripoli dropped during the month of May 2026 with the total weight of shipped goods decreasing to 110 thousand tons compared to 187 thousand tons in April (41.18% contraction). Imported freight accounted for 79.09% (87 thousand tons) of total freight in the fifth month of the current year, while export activity constituted 20.91% (23 thousand tons). On a cumulative basis, Tripoli Port freight activity came in 32.12% lower y-o-y during the first five months of 2026 to 674 thousand tons of total weight of shipped goods, compared to 993 thousand tons in the same period in 2025. Similarly, the number of vessels decreased by 28.36% on a yearly basis to 240, with the number of imported cars decreasing by 45.68% (524 cars) to 623 cars. In this context, port-related revenues dropped by 24.35% y-o-y to $8.00 million up to the month of May 2026, compared to $10.57 million in the first five months of 2025.
