The Lebanon Humanitarian Fund (LHF) has allocated $23.4 million aid as part of its third standard allocation to Lebanon that was complemented by a $12.0 million allocation from the United Nations’ Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF). The allocation was completely aligned with the Flash Appeal framework that allowed for a quick and coordinated response in areas requiring severe needs and concentrations of displaced populations. In addition, the CERF allocation enables four agencies to provide urgent, life-saving services to the most vulnerable populations in Lebanon, with assistance in the form of Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA), healthcare, and protection. The total funding of $35.4 million is divided between health ($8.3 million), food security ($6.0 million), MPCA ($6.0 million), shelter ($5.0 million), protection ($4.0 million), water, sanitation, and hygiene ($3.9 million), livelihoods ($2.0 million), and nutrition ($0.3 million). Furthermore, the majority of total funding was directed towards the South ($9.9 million), Mount Lebanon ($7.6 million), and Beirut ($5.7 million) regions, only to name a few.

The $23.4 million LHF aid is divided into two tranches: the first will be provided by national NGOs for a total amount of $11.7 million and will target 21 projects, and the second will be channeled through international NGOs for an amount of $11.8 million encompassing 16 projects. It is worth noting that $5.3 million out of the $23.4 million allocated by the LHF is in the form of cash assistance and will target some 19.7 thousand people, bearing in mind that the bulk ($2.4 million) of the total cash assistance of $5.3 million will be directed towards shelters and will benefit some 11K people.

The total of 37 projects will be geared towards 306 thousand individuals of which 151 thousand internally displaced people, 104 thousand people staying at host communities, around 38 thousand Palestinian refugees and migrants, and circa 12 thousand Syrian refugees.
