Cement deliveries, the coincident indicator of construction activity, increased by 8.37% during the month of May 2020 to 132,876 tons, up from 122,612 tons a month earlier. On an annual basis, cement deliveries plunged by 56.59% to 555,732 tons in the first five months of 2020 in comparison with 1,280,167 tons during the same period last year.

Cement deliveries registered a negative compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17.33% over the May 2013 – May 2020 period, mirroring the lackluster activity of Lebanon’s construction sector amidst the pale economic situation.
