The Minister of Economy and Trade Mr. Amer Bisat recently announced that Kuwait has granted Lebanon $1.5 million that will be geared towards financing studies related to the construction of new grain silos, bearing in mind that the old silos were destroyed in the Beirut Port blast ~5 years ago. Mr. Bisat commented that the study represents the initial stage of a plan to construct new silos, which will ultimately bolster national food security by establishing a strategic infrastructure to protect food reserves, guarantee a steady supply, and mitigate risks from both international and domestic crises.
