Beirut Port freight activity slowed to around 516.2 thousand tons during the month of June 2025, down from 586.3 thousand tons in the previous month. On a cumulative basis, however, freight activity rose by 14.25% y-o-y during the first half of 2025 to 3,066 thousand tons up from 2,684 thousand tons a year earlier. The number of vessels, however, dropped by 11.17% year-on-year to 684 in comparison with 770 in the same period in 2024, while the number of imported cars increased by 34.98% to ~27,000 cars. In a related context, the Beirut port handled containers with a total cargo capacity of around 401.49 thousand TEUs (including transshipments) in H1-2025 in comparison with a smaller cargo capacity of 371.96 thousand TEUs a year earlier.
