According to Reuters, several bondholders urged the new government in Lebanon to begin debt restructuring talks as soon as possible in order to tackle the current financial crisis. In details, the international creditors stated that they hope for a fast restructuring process which would require the government to undertake talks with the IMF and the Lebanese international creditors. Prime Minister Najib Mikati proposed to renew the previous government’s financial recovery plan as the IMF had previously endorsed the estimated $90 billion shortfall in the financial system. Finally, Mr. Mikati stated that the talks are “a necessity, not a choice”.

بحسب وكالة رويترز، فقد حثّ عدداً كبيراً من حملة سندات الدين اللبنانيّة الحكومة الجديدة على البدء بالمحادثات لإعادة هيكلة الدين العام بأسرع وقتٍ ممكن من أجل معالجة الأزمة الماليّة السائدة في البلاد. بالتفاصيل، فقد تمنّى الدائنون أن تتمّ عمليّة إعادة هيكلة الدين العام بطريقة سريعة، الأمر الذي يتطلّب من الحكومة إجراء محادثات مع صندوق النقد الدولي ودائني لبنان الدوليّين. وقد إقترح رئيس مجلس الوزراء السيّد نجيب ميقاتي أن يتمّ تحديث خطة التعافي التي أعدّتها الحكومة السابقة، مع العلم أنّ صندوق النقد الدولي كان قد وافق على تقييم الخسائر في القطاع المالي والتي قدّرتها الحكومة عند 90 مليار د.أ. وأخيراً، أشار السيّد ميقاتي أنّ المحادثات هي ضروريّة وليست إختياريّة.
