An IMF delegation recently met Lebanese officials including the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance. The President of the Republic reiterated during his meeting with the delegation Lebanon’s commitment to drafting an implementable reform agenda in cooperation with the IMF. The President added that the priority will be given to social and health issues in addition to combatting poverty and reforming the country’s infrastructure. The President also shed light on the launching of the forensic audit in BDL’s accounts. From his side, the Assistant Director to the IMF Mr. Thanos Arvanitis stressed on the IMF’s readiness to continue helping Lebanon in setting a comprehensive program that assists in countering the economic and financial crisis. On the other hand, the meeting with Prime Minister Mikati stressed on the main pillars of the recovery program, being public finances, the financial sector (BDL and banks), structural reforms and monetary policy.
إلتقى وفد من صندوق النقد الدولي مؤخّراً مسؤولين لبنانيين منهم رئيس الجمهوريّة ورئيس الحكومة ووزير الماليّة. وقد شدّد رئيس الجمهوريّة خلال لقائه البعثة على إلتزام لبنان وضع برنامج إصلاح بالتعاون مع صندوق النقد وبأنّه سيتم إيلاء الأولويّة للمشاكل الصحيّة والإجتماعيّة بالإضافة إلى محاربة الفقر وإصلاح البنى التحتيّة. وقد ألقى رئيس الجمهوريّة الضوء أيضاً على إنطلاق التدقيق الجنائي في حسابات مصرف لبنان. من جهّته، أعرب المدير المساعد لصندوق النقد الدولي السيّد تانوس أرفانيتيس عن إستعداد الصندوق لمواصلة مساعدة لبنان في وضع برنامج شامل يساعد في مواجهة الأزمة الإقتصاديّة والماليّة. من ناحية أخرى، تمحور اللقاء مع رئيس الحكومة السيّد نجيب ميقاتي على مداميك البرنامج الإصلاحي ألا وهي الماليّة العامّة والقطاع المالي (مصرف لبنان والمصارف اللبنانيّة) والإصلاحات البنيويّة والسياسة النقديّة.
