The Lebanese Minister of Finance Mr. Yassin Jaber signed on May 23, 2025 a $257.8 million loan agreement with the World Bank’s Regional Director Mr. Jean-Christophe Carret to finance the Greater Beirut Water Supply Second Project, which aims to increase the water supply coverage for 1.8 million residents in the Greater Beirut and Mount Lebanon region. According to Mr. Caret, the project will significantly lessen the reliance on costly private water tankers, and accelerate the implementation of reforms to improve the efficiency of the water sector and its long-term sustainability.
وقّع وزير المال اللبناني السيّد ياسين جابر بتاريخ 23 أيّار 2025 على إتفاقيّة قرض بقيمة 257.8 مليون د.أ. مع المدير الإقليمي للبنك الدولي السيّد جان كريستوف كاريه لتطوير خدمات إمدادات المياه في منطقة بيروت الكبرى وجبل لبنان والذي يهدف إلى زيادة تغطية إمدادات المياه لحوالي ال1.8 مليون شخص يقيمون في هذه المناطق. وبحسب السيّد كاريه، سيساهم هذا المشروع بالتخفيف من الاعتماد على نقليّات المياه الخاصة الباهظة الثمن لتلبية حاجات السكّان في هذه المناطق كما وتسريع تنفيذ الإصلاحات لتحسين كفاءة قطاع المياه واستدامته على المدى الطويل.
