In an effort to unify the multiple exchange rates of the Lebanese Pound against the US Dollar, the Lebanese Central Bank raised the official exchange rate of the US Dollar against the Lebanese Pound to 89,500 on February 15, 2024, from LBP 15,000 per USD previously. The unification of the exchange rates was one of the IMF’s prerequisites to unlock some $3 billion in financial aid to Lebanon over a period of 46 months after concluding a staff-level agreement in April 2022.
رفع المصرف المركزي سعر الصرف الرسمي للدولار مقابل الليرة اللبنانيّة من 15،000 ل.ل. للدولار الواحد إلى 89،500 ل.ل. وذلك بهدف توحيد أسعار الصرف المتعدّدة الرائجة في الإقتصاد اللبناني. تأتي هذه الخطوة تلبيّةً لإحدى متطلّبات صندوق النقد الدولي لتحرير مساعدات ماليّة للبنان بقيمة 3 مليار د.أ. على فترة 46 شهراً بعدما كان لبنان قد وصل إلى إتّفاق مبدئي مع صندوق النقد في نيسان 2022.
