The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) published on September 26, 2024 a humanitarian flash update report on Lebanon. In details, the Ministry of Public Health in Lebanon revealed that as of September 25, circa 600 individuals have been killed including more than 50 children and 94 women, with approximately 1,700 others being injured since September 23. In addition, internally displaced persons (IDPs) increased markedly with the escalation of hostilities, with the number of IDPs reaching circa 201,000. Furthermore, more than 53,000 IDPs have taken refuge in over 390 collective shelters.
From another perspective, the report noted that four water stations in the South and Bekaa governorates were damaged by air strikes of September 25, bringing the total number of damaged water stations to 24 and affecting more than 250,000 inhabitants. In the same vein, 18 primary health care centers were closed on September 25 on the back of their close proximity to high-risk areas.
Accordingly, the UNICEF began taking action by providing 12 collective shelters and Government Risk Reduction Units (DRR) in the South, North, and Beirut-Mount Lebanon governorates with assistance on several fronts as detailed below:
a) Water and Hygiene: Distributed 5,800 liters of drinking water to five shelters in South Lebanon and 800 kits of personal hygiene items to a collective shelter in the South
b) Health: Distributed 950 baby kits and supported the daily operations of 20 mobile primary health care units providing medical and health services to IDPs in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health
c) Education: Cooperated with the Minister of Education & Higher Education to guarantee the continuity of teaching and learning during the current crisis
d) Youth engagement: Distributed 3,770 blankets and 1,270 sleeping bags to seven shelters
e) Nutrition & child engagement: Provided nutrition kits in 25 collective shelters
Finally, the report revealed that the UNICEF had previously prepared a “Response and Preparedness Plan” for the July-December 2024 period which requires to raise funding of $39.1 million, noting that to date the UNICEF has received some $7.6 million out of the $39.1 million needed.
أصدرت اليونيسيف بتاريخ 26 أيلول 2024 تقرير حول الأوضاع الإنسانيّة الراهنة في لبنان في ظلّ العدوان الذي تشهده البلاد. بالتفاصيل، كشف وزير الصحّة العامّة في لبنان بأنّه لغاية 25 أيلول بلغت الخسائر البشريّة حوالي ال600 شخص ومنهم أكثر من 50 طفلاً و94 إمرأة كما وبلغ عدد الجرحى حوالي ال1،700 شخصاً منذ 23 أيلول. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، إرتفع عدد النازحين داخل البلاد بشكلٍ ملحوظ منذ بدء تصاعد الإعتداءات في لبنان بحيث وصل عددهم إلى حوالي ال201،000، علماً أنّ أكثر من 53،000 منهم قد إحتموا في أكثر من 390 ملجأ جماعي.
من منظارٍ آخر، أشار التقرير إلى أنّ الغارات في لبنان ألحقت الضرر بأربعة محطّات مياه في محافظات الجنوب والبقاع بتاريخ 25 أيلول، الأمر الذي رفع عدد محطّات المياه المتضرّرة إلى 24 وأثّر على أكثر من 250،000 شخصاً. في الإطار عينه، تمّ إقفال 18 مركز رعاية صحيّة أوليّة بتاريخ 25 أيلول نظراً لتواجدها في مناطق معرّضة للخطر.
في هذا الإطار، باشرت اليونيسيف بإتّخاذ تدابير من خلال تأمينها ل12 ملجأ جماعيّ ومراكز حكوميّة للتخفيف من المخاطر (Government Risk Reduction Units) في محافظات في الجنوب والشمال وبيروت وجبل لبنان لتأمين المساعدة على عدّة أصعدة:
- المياه والنظافة الصحيّة: وزّعت اليونيسيف 5،800 ليتر من مياه الشرب على خمسة ملاجئ في جنوب لبنان بالإضافة إلى 800 مستلزمات للنظافة الخاصّة على مركز جماعي في الجنوب
- الصحّة: وزّعت اليونيسيف 950 مستلزمات أطفال إلى النازحين كما وساندت العمل اليومي ل20 مركز رعاية صحيّة أوليّة متنقّل لتأمين خدمات طبيّة وصحيّة إلى النازحين بالتعاون مع وزارة الصحّة العامّة
- التعليم: تعاونت اليونيسيف مع وزارة التربية والتعليم العالي لتأمين إستمرار التعليم والتعلّم في إطار الأزمة الحاليّة
- مشاركة الشباب: وزّعت اليونيسيف 3،770 بطانيّة و1،270 أكياس نوم على سبعة ملاجئ
- التغذية ومشاركة الأطفال: أمّنت اليونيسيف خدمات غذائيّة على 25 ملجأ جماعي
أخيراً، كشف التقرير بأنّ اليونيسيف كانت قد وضعت خطّة إغاثة للفترة الممتدّة بين شهريّ تمّوز وكانون الأوّل 2024 تصل كلفتها إلى 39.1 مليون د.أ.، علماً أنّها نجحت بتأمين حوالي 7.6 مليون د.أ. من مبلغ التمويل الإجمالي، أيّ ما يشكّل 19% من المبلغ المطلوب.
