The United Nations (UN) Humanitarian Fund in Lebanon has allocated $24 million to the country in the form of an emergency aid package in an endeavor to help the country shoulder the burden of the recent escalation of hostilities as per the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Lebanon Mr. Imran Riza. In details, Mr. Riza revealed that $13 million would be geared towards supporting vulnerable communities across the country, $10 million towards emergency relief for those impacted by hostilities in the south of the country while the remaining $1 million would be allocated towards bolstering the ability of local NGOs to respond to the crisis. In the same vein, Mr. Riza lamented the shortage of funding, as only 25% of annual appeals have been met, requesting in the process further support from the international community.
