The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has recently announced that it inked a new Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) with The Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) to prepare for Lebanon’s upcoming Agricultural Census. The census will aid in updating Lebanon’s agricultural data, bearing in mind that the last census was conducted during the year 2010. The FAO added that accurate and updated agricultural data are key for evidence-based planning, effective policymaking, and sustainable rural development. The 18-month project will pivot on establishing the legal and institutional framework for the census, while also boosting the technical capacities of Ministry employees in line with the methodologies outlined in the World Programme for the Census of Agriculture 2030.
أعلنت منظّمة الأغذية والزراعة للأمم المتحدة (الفاو) مؤخراً عن توقيعها برنامجاً جديداً للتعاون الفنّي مع وزارة الزراعة اللبنانيّة للتحضير للإحصاء الزراعي المقبل في لبنان والذي سيساعد على تحديث البيانات الزراعيّة في البلاد، علماً بأنّ آخر إحصاء أُجري في العام ٢٠١٠. وأضافت الفاو بأنّ البيانات الزراعيّة الدقيقة والمُحدّثة أساسيّة للتخطيط المستند على الأدلّة ولصنع السياسات الفعّالة وللتنمية الريفيّة المستدامة. أخيراً، سيركّز المشروع الذي سيستمر ١٨ شهراً على إرساء الإطار القانوني والمؤسسي للإحصاء كما وعلى تعزيز القدرات الفنيّة لموظّفي الوزارة بما يتماشى مع المنهجيات المعلنة في البرنامج العالمي للتعداد الزراعي للعام ٢٠٣٠.
