Beirut Port freight activity accelerated to around 574.1 thousand tons during the month of July 2025, up from 516.2 thousand tons in the previous month. On a cumulative basis, moreover, freight activity rose by 13.75% y-o-y during the first seven months of 2025 to 3,640 thousand tons up from 3,200 thousand tons a year earlier. The number of vessels, however, dropped by 9.56% year-on-year to 814 in comparison with 900 in the same period in 2024, while the number of imported cars increased by 52.81% to 35,310 cars. In a related context, the Beirut port handled containers with a total cargo capacity of around 499.44 thousand TEUs (including transshipments) during the first seven months of 2025 in comparison with a smaller cargo capacity of 444.26 thousand TEUs a year earlier.
