Beirut Port freight activity receded during the month of February 2026 with the total weight of shipped goods dropping to around 473.3 thousand tons compared to 504.1 thousand tons a month earlier (5.51% drop). On an annual basis, however, freight activity rose by a robust 11.06% to 977 thousand tons during the first two months of the current year compared to 880 thousand tons in the equivalent period last year. The number of vessels, however, dropped by 10.67% y-o-y to 201 in comparison with 225 YTD February 2025, while the number of imported cars increased by 138.31% (7,076 cars) to 12,192 cars. In a related context, the Beirut port handled containers with a total cargo capacity of around 167.88 thousand TEUs (including transshipments) during the first two months of the year 2026 in comparison with a smaller cargo capacity of 111.02 thousand TEUs a year earlier.
