BDL Governor Mr. Karim Souaid was elected Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) for the coming year during the Fund’s 49th annual meeting on May 19, 2026. The meeting was attended by finance ministers and governors of Arab central banks from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Syria, Morocco, Oman, and Jordan. The election of Mr. Karim Souaid as Chairman to the Board was viewed as a sign of Lebanon’s continued presence and role within joint Arab financial institutions, despite the economic and financial challenges facing the country. Discussions focused on strengthening financial and monetary cooperation among Arab countries and enhancing the role of the Arab Monetary Fund in supporting Arab economies, in addition to promoting integration and coordination among member states to address regional and international economic developments.
تمّ إنتخاب حاكم مصرف لبنان السيّد كريم سعيد رئيسًا لمجلس محافظي صندوق النقد العربي (Arab Monetary Fund) للعام المقبل، وذلك خلال الإجتماع السنويّ ال49 للمجلس الذي تمّ عقده بتاريخ 19 أيّار 2026. وقد شارك في الإجتماع وزراء الماليّة وحكّام المصارف المركزيّة العربيّة من المملكة العربيّة السعوديّة والإمارات العربيّة المتّحدة ودولة الكويت وسوريا والمغرب وعُمان والأردن. وإعتُبر إنتخاب السيّد كريم سعيد رئيساً لمجلس إدارة الصندوق كدليل على إستمرار حضور ودور لبنان في المؤسسات الماليّة العربيّة المشتركة بالرغم من التحديات الإقتصاديّة والماليّة التي يواجهها. وقد بحث المشاركون كيفيّة تحسين التعاون المالي والنقدي العربي، وتطوير دور صندوق النقد العربي في دعم الإقتصادات العربيّة، بالإضافة إلى تعزيز التكامل والتنسيق بين الدول الأعضاء لمواجهة التطوّرات الإقتصاديّة الإقليميّة والدوليّة.
